Unlocking the Potential of Rural Walkability

With climate change effects worsening, rural communities have the opportunity to take steps to become more climate resilient through a combination of climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. In this ten-county region sprawling across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, there is a lack of walkable communities, especially in rural areas. Rural areas in the region must take steps towards becoming more walkable by bringing life back to the sidewalks, encouraging pedestrian safety, and creating complete streets. By providing recommendations specifically tailored to rural communities, this playbook is focused on Unlocking the Potential of Rural Walkability.
