Impacting

urban futures

Welcome to the School of Planning DAAPWorks website. We are proud to present the graduating work for the 2020 cohort, which positively impact our urban futures. Our various undergraduate and graduate programs - from Bachelors to PhD - are all dedicated to experience-based learning, research, and service to communities. Impacting Urban Futures to us means providing an inclusive environment where innovation and freedom of intellectual inquiry flourish for livable and sustainable futures. We invite you to see the graduating work for each of our programs.

MCP Capstone

Our Master of Community Planning (MCP) program engaged with the community of Price Hill on Cincinnati's west side to re-envision their neighborhood business districts, in collaboration with Price Hill Will and the City of Cincinnati. The capstone work presents five visions for more vibrant, inclusive and healthy business districts.

MCP Thesis

This year's MCP thesis measures potential access to primary healthcare by car and by bus in Cincinnati.  This comparison can help provide a more holistic view on geographic access and can also help with identifying disparities that could have otherwise been overlooked.

MLA Capstone

The MLA graduating work reimagines Rubbertown, a post-industrial neighborhood along the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky.  Projects study low-impact development, environmental preservation, and trails, parks and gateway design.

BSUS/BUP Capstone

Our Bachelor of Urban Planning (BUP) and Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies (BSUS) program joined forces to create strategies for [re]building community with affordable housing in OTR, outlining six strategic visions based on future scenarios that anticipate short and long-term changes in socio-economic conditions.

Horticulture

The Horticulture capstone focuses on green infrastructure and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Global case studies focus on how these goals have been achieved through green infrastructure in differing climates, cultures, and environmental challenges.
