Catalytic Classrooms: Intellectual Infrastructure for Resilient Communities
The Green Umbrella 10-county region will face unprecedented challenges in the coming years: combatting the worsening effects of climate change while managing population growth resulting from climate in-migration. Soon, climate issues will permeate every aspect of public policy. In this context, intellectual infrastructure in the form of climate curriculum will be vitally important. Effective climate curriculum emphasizes the local context, orients students optimistically toward the future, and promotes an actions-based approach to confront climate change. Climate-conscious classrooms will create climate-conscious communities, as students become residents who promote climate resiliency in public engagement discussions and local policy decisions.
