In select areas throughout Cincinnati, there is a pronounced Urban Heat Island Effect, in which the profound presence of asphalt and other solid surfaces, and lack of greenspace, make the ambient temperatures much higher than in surrounding areas. As climate change advances, the effect will continue to increase. There are technologies that can be implemented in vulnerable areas to mitigate such a phenomenon from occuring, as well as slow the many adverse effects of climate change in Cincinnati.
